Join us for a brilliant week of coastal sailing as we explore the Channel Islands – a group of fascinating islands set midway between England and France, rich in history, natural beauty, and a unique blend of British and French culture. This is hands-on, rewarding sailing through tidal inlets and around rocky headlands, anchoring in crystal-clear bays and coming ashore to explore the islands properly. Sark has no cars and barely any roads. Herm is wild and unspoilt. Guernsey blends French and British influences with ease. You’ll discover hidden beaches reached only by dinghy, walk cliff paths lined with wildflowers, and enjoy long, warm evenings in tiny harbours with a pint or a plate of seafood fresh off the boat.
There are spectacular walks throughout the islands. The cliffs around Moulin Huet and Petit Port on Guernsey are breathtaking, while the Sark headland paths offer panoramic views and glimpses of puffins and peregrines. On Herm, the coastal walk from Shell Beach to Belvoir Bay is a real highlight, with turquoise water and white sand that wouldn’t be out of place in the Caribbean. In harbour, you’ll find markets stacked with produce you’d expect in Brittany not Britain. This is the place to try the world-famous hand-dived scallops, fat chancre crabs, oysters, lobster, and crusty baguettes with rich Guernsey butter. There’s also the possibility to explore World War II bunkers and coastal fortifications, all a reminder of the islands’ fascinating history from world war two.
The week begins or ends with a proper offshore passage across the English Channel, depending on which leg you join. It’s a spectacular sail of 10-12 hours, weaving through busy shipping lanes and towering cargo ships, and gives you a taste of true offshore sailing, complete with the magic of making landfall in a different country. Expect hands-on sailing, memorable landfalls, and a proper taste of island life – all just a stone’s throw from England.
