    What we're looking for

    In seeking the ideal candidate for a skipper position, Rubicon 3 Adventure is looking for a high level of experience and technical proficiency, strong maintenance skills, superb leadership qualities, and a deep-seated passion for adventure. A Rubicon 3 skipper keep everyone totally safe but also inspires and educates everyone onboard. Here are the key attributes we’re looking for:

    Sailing Expertise

    Possession of relevant sailing certifications (e.g., RYA Yachtmaster, Coastguard License) with a strong track record of sailing experience. You must have substantial experience in boats above 50′ and in various regions of the world. If you have less than 30,000 logged miles, it is unlikely you have sufficient experience.

    Essential Qualifications (international equivalents may be acceptable)

    • RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (Commercially Endorsed)
    • RYA Diesel Engine
    • RYA Radar
    • Powerboat Level 2
    • Food Hygiene Level 2

    Desired Industry Qualifications: (& you will need to work toward all of these(

    • Commercially Endorsed Yachtmaster Ocean
    • General Operators Certificate (GOC)
    • Proficiency in Medical First Aid
    • Proficiency in Medical Care
    • Cruising Instructor
    • Yachtmaster Instructor (YMI)
    • M200

    Leadership and Decision-Making

    Clear ability to lead a team with confidence, making informed decisions under pressure to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all on board.

    Safety-Conscious

    A meticulous approach to safety, with a thorough understanding of maritime safety procedures, weather assessments, and emergency responses.

    Teaching Ability

    Passion for sharing knowledge and skills, capable of teaching sailing techniques and principles to crew and guests of all skill levels.

    Maintenance Skills

    Strong maintenance skills are indispensable for a skipper, ensuring the vessel’s reliability, safety, and optimal performance. These skills minimize downtime and prevent issues before they arise, safeguarding everyone on board.

    Adaptability

    Flexibility to handle the unpredictable nature of these expeditions, adapting plans as necessary while keeping the crew motivated and the voyage on course.

    Interpersonal Skills

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive environment aboard, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for guests.

    Passion for Adventure

    A genuine love for the sea and adventure, with the enthusiasm to explore new destinations and share this passion with others.

    Physical Fitness

    Good physical condition to handle the demands of sailing, including long periods at sea, manual handling of equipment, and emergency situations.

    In seeking the ideal candidate for a mate position, Rubicon 3 is looking for a sailor with at least a year working full time in the industry and an absolute passion to progress. Your desire, attitude, personality, and professionalism are by far the most important attributes at this stage in your career.

    Here are the key attributes we’re looking for:

    Sailing Expertise

    Possess relevant sailing certifications (e.g., RYA Yachtmaster, Coastguard License) with at least a year of professional sailing experience. Ideally, you will have been skippering, not just mating.

    Essential Qualifications (international equivalents may be acceptable)
